Interview with Marc Mark, Mark Studios

What made you decide to become a designer?

As a child I was drawing and crafting a lot. Somehow creating something mostly in nature, this feeling stayed. I failed in school and had to take some detours to get the possibility to study. That took time, time to make experiences. Can you tell us more about your design background? Usually, I don’t design in a classic form maybe- designing something is a process to-m create atmospheres- creating atmospheres is what we do.

How do you stay inspired and keep coming up with creative ideas? Traveling and visiting places of hospitality.

What does good design mean to you? Good design is something you will not mention because its somehow – self-evident?

Substantive and sustainable.

What is the most challenging thing in your profession? Costs and schedules. A necessary frame. Please, explain the best project you are most proud of and why. One of my best is: the peace pentagon. A 1st prize in a worldwide competition in New York. A sign for freedom between Art and Architecture.


What is your biggest design career moment? How does this milestone impact your career? A 1st prize in a worldwide competition in New York. A sign for freedom between Art and Architecture.

How do you learn and grow your knowledge and design skills? Work and create.

What would you say will be future of design? I know what I am aiming. Set it free- be elegant and fair. Sustainability is matter of course. What are your career plans for the future? Work and create.
