The American Institute of Architects UK Chapter is pleased to announce its 2023 Design Awards. For over 20 years, these awards, which are not restricted to AIA members, have proven highly valued by architects as they confer international recognition for design excellence.
The awards programme recognises and honours excellence in design in three categories: Professional (submissions further organized into Small, Medium & Large projects), Emerging Practice, and Exemplary Performance in Sustainability.
Sustainability is a core aspect of the AIA UK awards and the jury encourages all project submissions to complete as much of the sustainability portion of the form as possible, as well as to provide other metrics or narrative that elaborate on project sustainability measures for the jury’s consideration.
Details as follows:
Professional: Entries are sought from architects, industrial designers, urban planners, landscape architects, and interior designers for projects whose construction has been completed within the last five years (2017-2022).
Emerging Practice: Entries are sought from young, emerging architects, industrial designers, urban planners, landscape architects, and interior designers whose practices are made up of design principals under 40 years of age, for projects whose construction has been completed within the last five years (2017-2022).
Sustainability: We launched this award in 2020 as part of the worldwide call to action on climate change and carbon reduction. This award seeks to commend projects that demonstrate creative and effective sustainable designs, whose construction has been completed within the last five years (2017-2022).
The AIA UK Design Awards seeks to celebrate projects built here in the UK as well as international work by designers based in the UK, therefore we keep our eligibility criteria as open as possible. The competition is not limited to AIA members. Please note that the Sustainability award is open to both Professionals and Emerging Practices.
