Luweiqiao Waterway is located in the water system of the Xijiang estuary of the Pearl River. We design to form a continuous natural "Green Valley" with the skeleton of waterway and Wenhan Lake. The park takes riverbank as a green chain, harmoniously coexisting nature, agriculture, leisure and public culture here, enhancing the overall value of waterfront area. The park has been constructed in three phases, covering 45.5 hectares in total.
The North Bank Park (Phase I and Phase II) revolves around the lake, where island groups of native banyan trees have been preserved. The lakeside features expansive lawns, fir tree clusters and sidewalks. Beach, amusement zone, lakeside station and water pavilion provide people with diverse activity spaces. At the hilltop by the lake stands the iconic observation Tower – Qilong Tower. Lotus ponds and rice fields outside the dike create habitats for waterfowl.
The South Bank Park (Phase III) connects the north bank via two pedestrian bridges, promoting the integrity of pedestrian system. Creating activity spaces that adapt to different water levels through 3 levels of platforms at different heights, more natural and permeable materials are used.
