As to the sunlight and landscape, the courtyard driveway on the west and the cubic appearance of building on the north constitute a stable structure. As the main structure of building, the fair-faced concrete constructed with the steel grilles brings about the real-and-imaginary interaction of the building.

Considering the red-brick building with the features of the delicate Minnan-style siheyuan and the Lin’s ancestral temple, the designer demonstrates the spirit of modern artisan with the contemporary fair-faced concrete methods. The humble building exterior is displayed by the design method of corresponding openings of space that establishes the relationship between the traditional and modern elements.

The ceiling windows of the tall reading area, which is opposite the staircase, functionally connect the public area with the private spaces in different floors. The plain texture of the fair-faced concrete constitutes the tone of the texture of space, furnished with the Vietnam oak bookcases and the smoked oak flooring, that brings out the natural texture of space.
