Our company often develops collections with some of the best designers and thinkers in Interior Design. The Shimmering Burlap Collection came from a collaboration with just a thought-leader in Andre Kikoski, an award-winning architect.
In the initial phase of development, both sides found inspiration in the juxtaposition of contrasting elements. We began our creative process with burlap, a coarse fabric woven from jute fibers. This material is most often used to make nets or sacks and typically does not inspire images of beautiful and refined design. When combined with layered, reflective mica, however, the contrast between the fibers and minerals create a stunning look and feel.
We produce this collection entirely within the four walls of our Studio. Our artisans handcraft this wallcovering in a multi-stage process that involves hand-painting the burlap and hand-flocking the mica in patterns that follow a repetition with just the right amount of variability as to communicate the idea of craftsmanship.
Multi-dimensional to the eye and touch, this handcrafted collection is perfect for both intimate spaces and large environments. We could not be more proud of the results.
