In response to the call for old buildings renovation, Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) Low Carbon Cities Programme extensively employs recyclable metal materials, environmentally friendly floors, wall materials and wall hangings to design boutique hotels, taking advantage of the limited height of the original space and the thick column grids, which perfectly indicates the concept of low carbon supplemented by business, fashion and recreation.
The arrangements, decorations, functions and environmental features of the suites from 6th to 10th floor were accordingly improved, with entry doors installed backwards; alteration is made to the way the wardrobes relate with the walls to maximize the utilization space; the bathrooms are arranged in the manner of half transparency, which makes the whole room more spacious and brighter.
The standard single rooms are mainly decorated with wooden colors, simple and bright. Coloured with brilliant blue, the whole space is full of vitality and becomes more interesting. The blue treasure boxes, as bedside tables, match those in the lobby and unify the whole hotel, as well as relate to OCT’s “Travel Culture” at any time.
