The Cube Calendar

Philip Stroomberg has added an innovative twist to the concept of the tear-off calendar. The Cube Calendar is not a messy sheaf of paper hanging from a nail on your wall, but a compact object that subtly changes shape in your hands: by tearing off a card each day, you reveal the workings of time.
Divided into six rows, hundreds of cards line up, held together as a cube by two binding screws. The cards have been punched from two sheets of cardboard.
There’s a card for each day and, every few days, a card with a humorous observation or a philosophical aphorism. ‘It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see,’ says Henry David Thoreau on 8 January. You will find 96 quotes in all. What links them is a theme: Dreams and imagination. It’s about positivity and putting things into perspective, because as Sarah Sze says on 19 June, ‘The idea of knowing exactly where you’re going is overrated.’
The Cube Calendar comes in a specially designed box that ingeniously folds around the cube without the use of an adhesive.
The Cube Calendar has been designed for the international market and is in English. It is made out of recycleable materials and its dimensions are: 75 x 75 x 73 mm.
