Tainan, once the ancient capital of Taiwan, is a witness of time and history. This is also where the story of the owner takes place. With two companies established in 1989 and 1992 and soon becoming the pioneers of the manufacturing industry, the entrepreneurship has been craved in the owner’s mind, that he is meant to build something from nothing. The designer is deeply inspired by the family story and takes images of star products of both companies to build a commerce space full of stories and culture.
From above, the structure is in a cross, mimicking the space of a collated screw, and on the top is a cylinder with a plum-blossom-shaped atrium which is a symbol of the star screw the company produced. The refreshing color palette and smooth curves of the building do not fit in the impression from grungy manufacturing, but rather eye-opening. The Roman Numerals, I IV IV II, which stand for 1992, the year the company established, is embedded on the façade, acting as a customized lattice, secretly telling the history of the company.
