This case is a 25-ping single-story house located in Sanchong District, New Taipei City. At the beginning of the design, the designer observed the space and readjusted the floor plan to connect the dining room, living room, and study with an open approach. Irregular beveled geometries cut the wallpapers, tawny glass, and black glass on the façade to outline interesting visual layers and create connections. At the end of the space, large windows are applied to draw the abundant natural sunlight and broaden the vision of the public area. For example, in the dining room, mirrored surfaces are used to widen the view of the space, and rounded edges are used for the dining table to soften the space visually, making the overall flow smoother. Although the façade and cabinets are made of low-limit dark materials, the ceiling is still gradually raised from one corner to the rest. The inverted slant on both the façade and the ceiling is the designer’s expression to find a special form of interest in the solidified, hard rules of a straight and square building in the city.
