Living The Gardens development is a complex of nine villas located in Cancun, Mexico on a land of 2,373 m2. The villas are 3-level buildings with a total of 216 to 275 m2. The main objective was to create dwellings with an innovative design but with a local architectural sensation where families can create a strong social fabric integrated into a natural environment.
The project promotes a healthier lifestyle by offering Wellness amenities and promotes the reduction of the use of resources, economic savings and a more sustainable housing product through passive and bioclimatic design.
To achieve a more sustainable housing, specialized software was used to analyze all the facades and give the best response to the wind, sun, and other climate factors. The project uses native vegetation and wooden louvers on the south façade to protect it from solar incidence. It also ensures a constant natural cross-ventilation, allowing to substitute the air-conditioning for fresh outside air most of the year. Finally, a great percentage of the unbuilt part of the land has native vegetation, creating a microclimate that reduces thermal sensation and solar insulation.
