As time passes, changes may not always be noticeable, but they do have an impact on everything. The Kaohsiung Japanese School was once a thriving center for education, but now it sits abandoned. Despite this, its history remains important. That's why the team working on the project made a deliberate choice to preserve the cultural significance of the area by combining traditional Japanese design with modern elements. This strategy will allow future generations to appreciate the past of the region, promote its revival, and encourage economic growth. Ultimately, this project will improve the quality of life for residents by creating a positive outcome for everyone involved.
The space’s overall design is a masterful attempt to conjure up memories of the base's past. The design team utilized traditional Japanese elements, such as stone and wood materials, to create a stunning glass corridor that links the two buildings. This feature is not just visually appealing, but it also allows people to see multiple layers of scenery, giving them a virtual reality-like experience.
