The starting point for the architectural design is connected to highlighting and promoting the civilization and history of Crete in relation to natural cosmetics, essential oils, and herbs. Bioaroma is housed in a vertically integrated unit with privately owned manufacturing and distillation facilities, while it also cultivates its own herbs and possesses international certification for sustainable packaging. As a result, it produces 100% natural, water free products, displayed in its specially designed museum & experience store (240 sqm).
The inspiration for the design comes primarily from local traditional Cretan materials, such as the natural raw stone that the Museum's walls are made of and the natural oak wood used to construct the experience store. These are fused with contemporary industrial materials such as Corten metal used for the pivot rotating laser cut door, the shelter, as well as the Museum's showcases and the plexiglass panels.
The uniqueness of the design is committed to the triple bottom line concept, which asserts that longterm and sustainable progress requires the balanced achievement of economic development, environmental performance, and social advancement.
