Underlying Elegance is a remodeled old apartment in Taipei that adheres to the designer’s belief in interior design. Its north-facing layout with a loft and excellent natural light features a mixed modern style. The lower level is laid out as a complete common area with an open-concept living room, dining room, and a Japanese room to meet the needs of active children. The privacy of the bedrooms is configured on the upper level. The entrance features a vegetation wall, wooden tiles, and faux stone veins that add liveliness to the space. The marble-vein TV wall and elevated flooring in the Japanese room create indoor coherence. The dining room is separate from the kitchen and is placed next to the window for the family to enjoy natural light. Green materials are used to adhere to environmental sustainability, and a ventilation system is installed for air conditioning. This user-friendly space is thoughtfully mapped out, retaining existing items to be reused ingeniously. Underlying Elegance is a meticulously-made residence that encompasses practicality and humanistic spirit, endowing it with aesthetic appeal and turning it into a thoughtful, human-based vessel of life full of story and character.
