Albert Potgieter Designs was started on the dream to make a difference. To use art and design and creativity to uplift people. To get people off the streets or bad situations into the business and teach them, mentor them and give them a skill and most of all to give back. This is what the business or vision or goal is all about. Every piece that is designed or created is aimed to reach this goal. Albert Potgieter was a Physiotherapist, but started the business in Furniture design to give back to those that haven’t been given the opportunities that he has. Albert Potgieter regards what he achieves not as important, but what is important, is the why behind the what. The ‘why’ that drives the business to do better, to reach for more and to keep fighting.

ABOUT

The creation of the Moja Coffee Table uses the unique technique or process of steam bending to create the special bend in the wood. This makes it possible for this piece to get these special curves that will not be possible otherwise and also gives the Moja Coffee table its special look and brings an unique element to these furniture pieces. Smaller pieces of wood is used to build up the Moja Coffee Table into a functional art piece. Using these techniques or way of designing creates unique lines and natural curves.

ABOUT

The Optique bench was designed to be a functional art piece. To be a unique furniture piece in the house, but that also gives an atmosphere to the room it’s in. The uniqueness of this design lies in its visual aspect, hence the name, Optique. It captures the attention as it gives the impression of movement and being alive. Being designed in Africa it also carries the properties of nature and wildness with it, giving it a very special, unique look. The core of the design is to attract, to gather around and to enhance the space it fills.
