Since 2001, Ruis Vargas has been heading the Laika pack. He uses his tentacles to work the WORDS into shape – reaching screenplays, literature, critical essays and a variety of texts in the vast universe of semiotics, history, art and culture – and to conceive them graphically. DRAWING is his material thinking: the visual body of ideas, elaborated with the techniques of illustration, typography, design and photography. Further to Laika’s productions, Ruis Vargas is the creator of graphic novels and comic strips that have been published for many years in newspapers and magazines and have been recently collected in a series of books. Such is the extension of his tentacles, which explore an immense ocean of creative and conceptual possibilities, giving life and form to ideas: new lines, logic, aesthetic sense and applicability.

ABOUT

To operate in the home equity market, a group of investors sought to build a brand that would convey the concept of help and solidarity, in a balanced financial relationship with its client. From this premise, the LendMe brand was built: the logo structure has an iconographic representation that refers to binary codes balanced between each other, suggesting both a mathematical concept and the relationship between LendMe and his client, where lending is a two-way street.

ABOUT

To represent the aspects of the Superlimao brand, the design of the new logo was inspired by grotesque typography to contrast, by sobriety, with a series of colorful and surreal illustrations and patterns, developed for the language project, enhancing the diversity of visual discourse. Despite the sobriety, the use of the logo allows the deconstruction of its meaning in the interaction with the images, reaffirming the posture of constant reflection on architectural practice.

ABOUT

Sao Paulo bears the stigma of being a serious and unwelcoming city and their resident is reputed to be less than hospitable. However, since the beginning of the 20th century, there has been a cultural tradition in the city permeated by a sense of humor and artistic invention. Cultural anthropophagy is a product of this. The Umano name and identity project is a break from the traditional seriousness of hotels - a materialized rupture, physically and graphically.
